We use these to cap Ginger Beer bottles (we only use a small amount at a time and want the rest to stay sparkling). We have used similar plugs in the past that seal better than this one. The idea is that you insert the cork into the bottle and then press a small lever that safely expands the cork to the width of the bottle. The previous models we used stayed in place even in soda bottles. These don't stay in place. I think the problem is that the small locking mechanism just doesn't stretch enough and the rubber just doesn't hold up well enough. If you're using them for very narrow non-carbonated bottles, they're damn good. But for us they are not quite suitable, so I buy new ones.
