Review on 🧽 ProPlus Dry Cleaning Sponge: The Ultimate Cleaning Solution for Fabrics by Debbie Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for removing dirt particles from delicate items

I bought this sponge to remove layers of dirt from some vintage prints that I bought on sale. I remembered these cleaning sponges from the archive library catalogue. They worked great. This little restoration/conservation job would have cost me at least $100. After several passes of light over the delicate paper, the dirt disappeared and the image and paper became a shade lighter. If you use this for saving, don't use it for pencil marks that you want to save. And don't press the pictures too hard or you might erase them. Otherwise, they are perfect for preserving old papers and books. Since they're called dry cleaning sponges, I think one could assume that this is a dry cleaning industry sponge and not the sponge you use to dry clean without liquid. The sponge is designed to remove layers of dusty dirt from things that cannot be washed with water or that would be impractical to wash with water. They are not intended to remove clothing stains, red wine stains, ink stains, etc. This product is a special cleaner. This is not a multitasking tool that will solve all cleaning problems. If you want to remove dirt and dust particles from delicate items, this is for you. If you're looking for an alternative to a hefty dry cleaning bill, this isn't for you.

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
