Calmed the beast in the back

I recently bought a used 2007 Toyota Tacoma SR5. My previous car was a 2000 Audi A6. I buy used cars with the intention of driving them for a long time (200,000 miles). The transition from sedan to truck was a minor change, and some of the interior appointments were simpler. One of the biggest differences was the street noise. As you might expect, the A6 was very quiet. It's not fair to expect a truck to be this quiet, but after a few long rides the noise started to bother me. I looked at several noise control options including this product and other similar closed cell foam and bulk filled vinyl. I liked this one for the price and ease of installation. I put 3 sheets on the back of the cab while waiting for my kid's soccer practice. I literally laid 4 door panels over my lunch break. This material is very easy to install. A sheet is almost perfect for covering under a door panel with some trim. The large pack comes with 2 more sheets but to be honest I will be using them on my wife's car. The Tacoma floor actually has a muffler and thick carpet, so I'll skip the floor. To be honest, 7 out of 9 hands is enough. Significantly less street noise. My factory radio sounds much better. I cranked the stereo up to 40 or 45 on the freeway, but now I only need 30 to enjoy the clean sound. I think the bass response from my factory speakers has improved a lot. Before, the side mirrors didn't shake from the bass vocals. Now when the same song plays, all my mirrors vibrate. I feel even better bass with my rear meter. I think it's the sealing of the holes in the door that makes the door a better speaker box. I don't think it seems to me. Either way, a very good $100 was spent. I could also add a subwoofer or maybe replace my factory 6 1/2 inch speakers with better ones. But the main goal of reducing road noise has been achieved for the time being. To be honest I hear a lot less road and wind noise. Good product.

Pros
  • Pack of 9 sheets (18" x 32")
Cons
  • Not bad but...
