Purchased this to use for my traditional wooden picnic table with a 9 ft umbrella. It's rather large and clunky so it does take up a lot of foot space under the table where a person would sit in the middle. It would definitely work best with a round table imo - because of that. Since we generally don't seat that many people it's just fine for our purposes. It is not fancy - but gets the job done. I filled it with water, screwed on the cap, and stuck the umbrella in it through the hole I drilled in the table. Easy as can be as there really is no actual assembly. It's heavy and sturdy enough for the umbrella. I do always keep the umbrella closed when we are not using it so I can't speak to how it would hold up on an extremely windy or stormy day and I'd rather not find out. Overall, I'm satisfied with it for the price. especially because I purchased it used/good from ebay Warehouse. It's great to save $$ and to keep perfectly good stuff out of the landfill.
