Review on Dorman 924-307 Trailer Hitch Plug: Superior Quality in Sleek Black Design by Edward Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect fit on a 2003 Suburban 2500

Perfect fit and restored lost function. The cover on my original trailer connector ripped and no longer held onto the hinge pin. I ran it without a cover for a while, but water got in and ruined the wiring, causing corrosion around the pins. I was able to keep the outside surfaces clean and it worked for a while, but eventually I started having problems with the cable connector. Symptoms included not showing a reverse light all the time (preventing the brake disc lock from working which prevented the trailer from backing up), cruise control constantly cutting out when you used your turn signal, cruise control didn't worked if you had lights. . I only put it down to this connector due to backlight issues and the fact that they all improved when the connector was wet. It was hard to keep track of and I thought I'd have to replace the whole thing, but it was easy to install (after I managed to remove the fixed connector from the back of the OEM connector and clean it) by simply doing pressed the tab and turned . Installation is just as easy, I cleaned the contacts very well with contact cleaner and smeared some dielectric grease before connecting the connector. Now all functions are restored, the seals perfectly protect against water ingress and the towbars fit much better. I wish I had just swapped it out sooner, for the price I have no complaints.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
