This lens meets the advertised specifications. The build quality is fantastic. It's super fast and quiet. And of course, like everyone else, quite heavy. As a hobby photographer, it took me a long time to muster up the courage (and money) to buy this lens, but I have no regrets. I suffered for years photographing my son's budget hockey teams. Telephoto lens I've spent hours post-processing photos to make them brighter, improve contrast and to be honest I've thrown away more than half of what I've done. It wasn't the best use of time for an employee. Now I would say that over 90% of my shots are keeper in terms of focus and brightness. Now it remains to work on the composition! As for the weight, I figured I could handle it on the rink with the help of a monopod. However, when I first tried it, I found it awkward to quickly manipulate position while sitting on the bench firing at the Plexiglas. The action takes place very quickly, even at the highest level of Peewee (11-12 years). I've had much better luck hand-held shooting, although unless you're high enough to reach the glass it will tax your neck and back muscles. In the end, I ended up shooting off the players' bench. This really is the best place if your trainer doesn't mind. Another thing is that I didn't dare to use the lens until I had something in front of me to protect it. It wasn't easy finding a UV lens that rated well enough not to ruin the image of the G-series lens I just spent the money on. I ended up buying the 70mm UV HAze 010 black and white multi-coating filter and have no complaints. Also, the lens hood is quite large, making it easy to keep objects (e.g. hockey sticks, kids running in slush) at a comfortable distance. I highly recommend this lens. This is at the highest level. I couldn't be more excited.
