This device fits very well as a NAS. I went back and forth in a few days and the solution is simple. If you just want a reliable NAS for storage, this is for you. If you're looking for bells and whistles and don't mind the extra cost, go with QNAP. Pros: * Outstanding build quality. Looks great. Thanks to the magnetized latch on the door, changing discs takes just a few seconds. The plastic disc holders are well made and slide in with a nice click. In fact, this thing is very well designed.* Installation is insanely easy. You put some drives there, connect to the NAS and it will ask if you want RAID or JOBD. Requires 0 technical skills to set up. * Good performance. I'm getting pretty stable downloads around 60MB/s. Downloads vary, but I often get over 100MB/s, although the speed doesn't stay that way. * Has limited application support if you want to add functionality. Cons: * Applications. Almost all are garbage. Twonky's built-in "Media Center" app hit the mark best. When running, it is slow and only displays a few items at a time. You have to keep clicking 'next page' to load more. The zCloud phone app aims to be an all-in-one tool for streaming media and accessing files over the internet. It rarely works. It usually finds my NAS and just sits there when it "connects" or "loads content". It charges slowly when it runs out. That's all. Again, this is a great NAS. If you only need local storage, buy it now, it's the best-in-class solution. However, if you need external access to your files with reliable video streaming and a beautiful user interface, look elsewhere.
