The soft flannel material of this collar is perfect for my kitty, although I had to cut it to the shortest length possible for his tiny neck. I removed the butterfly because it's almost bigger than its head now. What I don't like is the "zipper". The lead is in quotes because I seriously doubt it will actually come loose. I nearly strangled my kitten trying to remove the collar from my kitten, poor thing. The clasp must have a latch as it certainly won't release easily enough to free the cat if his or her collar gets caught on something. I thought it was just a tight clasp and if I opened and closed it enough times it would soften, but it doesn't. Serious design flaw. Unfortunately I have to look for a safer collar for my sweet friend.
