Pain to sew staples!

Works on my 2011 Rockwood Premier. My problem is that it hurts terribly to sew it to my fabric. The needle goes through fine but the sewing machine foot has to go around and over the clamps going when they're up (and fastened) I have to manually raise the foot every time I get to the clamp and basically hand stitch them until I reach the other sides If they're just the width of the vinyl by maybe 1/2" it would be much quicker and easier to sew them on. It would take me a very long time to sew all my curtains this way.
