Robust and reliable. My wife and I had no problems installing it. We measured the length of the tub opening and added 2-3 inches to the pipe. They squeezed it, put it in its place and hung the curtain. It's been in use for 1 year and it's still there and hasn't had to be adjusted. All metals rust over time (as some have complained about) but we only rub the bar with a coat of car wax about every 3 months - no rust to date (we don't know if it would have rusted/tarnished had we had not waxed). We grow all metal bathroom faucets from time to time. For those of you who find they won't stay in place (perhaps due to a slight wall offset), I recommend a layer of double sided tape on each of the rubber ends.
