The wire that comes out of individual landscape lights fits this connector very well as it is a very thin wire (about 20 gauge). But the umbilical that runs through the yard to which all the lamps are connected is roughly the same as the wiring for a table lamp (12 to 14 gauge). Wiring this size is a standard problem for Malibu landscape lighting. These ports are not big enough. to accept 12 gauge wire, so when I tried to attach a separate bulb to the main wire the plug would not close because the wire was too thick. The instructions said to use pliers to crimp it, and when i did, he broke away properly since they are just plastic. Anyone who has landscape lighting knows that the problem with lights is that those little plugs always fail, and as common as this problem is, you'd think there were more substitutes. The problem is that they all want you to use the same wire gauge for all connections, and that's just not the case. Either you get 2 very thin or 2 thick, but not the combination you want. End of my Fixlight tours and then using a connector from a DIY site that took two 14 gauge wires. The voltage on these lamps is so low that it doesn't cause any problems, but it took a long time to solve the problem.
