I bought (3) of these OXO Cone Mills around the same time, about 3.5 years ago. All (3) grinders were placed on the counter and different types of coffee beans were placed in the hopper of each grinder. (Yes. There are 5 coffee drinkers here, so we need regular beans, decaf, and specialty beans.) About once or twice a week, each grinder was used to grind 125 grams of roasted coffee beans. They were used to brew a large batch of coffee that was kept in the fridge and used for several days. In my opinion, once or twice a week is a SMALL use for this machine. THE PROBLEM BEGINS. Within two months one of the coffee grinders stopped working. He had two different problems. It was abandoned and we continued with the other two on the same schedule as mentioned above: one or two uses per week. Usually these machines did what they were supposed to do. Yes, there were some static issues causing the coffee grounds to fly around, but I'm not complaining about that. It wasn't a big problem. But I do complain about this: late last year, one of the remaining coffee grinders had a scale issue that couldn't be fixed. It could still grind coffee beans, but it might not work properly because the feedback from the scale is an integral part of the grinder. However, I found a way to circumvent this. But shortly thereafter, this grinder finally died and went in the trash. AND NOW. Only this morning. the third grinder died. The electronics/scales are so broken that there is no way to get them to work. I looked at the user manual and the company's website, but to no avail. All (3) of these mills are now garbage. CONCLUSION: If you think letting a $230 grinder die in two months and two more of them die in about 3-3.5 years is a good deal then feel free to buy this item. MY SUGGESTION: Do some homework to figure out how many grams of beans you need to make the coffee you like. Weigh those beans every time on an accurate (but inexpensive) kitchen scale that's easy to find and buy. Then pour those beans into a cone/burr grinder that has NO complicated electronics or built in scales. You don't need it, and chances are it will fail sooner than you'd like. Then grind the beans and brew coffee. For example, try one of the inexpensive Sboly Burr Mills. I like the one that cost me about 1/6 of what this grinder cost. When a $40 grinder dies after 3 years, it doesn't hurt that much. Blessing!
