Review on πŸ–₯️ GeeekPi HD Raspberry Monitor with Resistive Touch Interface: Boost Performance and Functionality by Fernando Townsend

Works well but can't be powered by HDMI only. My backlight died today and turned it into a brick :(

I am writing a review on this about a year after purchase because the backlight dimmed this morning and has now died within an hour. This renders the screen completely unusable, although it still shows up as a valid HDMI device on the computer. The screen was used in my project for displaying host statistics internally on the computer and served this purpose very well. It is a pity that the screen cannot be powered only via HDMI. This is a major inconvenience as I had to run custom 5V USB wiring directly from the PSU so when using USB to power the backlight the screen turns off with the PC instead of the backlight illuminating in the room when the computer is off. But my constructive workaround solved this problem in my scenario. It's a good display overall, but considering I haven't had it that long and now the backlight isn't working, I'm a bit skeptical about the build quality.
