The detector was easy to use and worked great! We recently moved into a new house and thought it stinks around the gas fireplace. Of course, this thing went haywire every time I hit the gas. Following the instructions, I completely reduced the sensitivity and then adjusted it so that only the first strip lit up in clean air conditions. The alarm went off at full volume when I held it to the leaky plug. I then went ahead and adjusted the sensitivity knob again, this time so that it only lit halfway next to the leaking connector, and then I was able to move the detector to find the actual part of the connector that was leaking.
