Review on Vintage Charm with Modern Convenience: Royal 79119q Classic Manual Typewriter in Enchanting Purple by Gary Perry

Just not worth the price.

This typewriter is very nice. And I was very happy with the ribbon support levers, which I have never seen on any typewriter myself. But it also has some strange problems. The very first thing I noticed when using it was that the hammers just didn't make that nice clicking sound like they did on an old typewriter. But that didn't bother me too much; I know they don't ALL make that noise. But then I noticed that when I type, the letters seem crooked, especially when I'm typing fast. Then when I got to the end of the line and pulled the lever to fold the cart back, it almost always went past the point where I had set the limit. Then one day, in the middle of a line, I suddenly started overwriting the previous line and couldn't figure out how that happened. And the other day I came home to find that the logo plate that I assumed was screwed on is now crooked. Apparently it was just glued on and the glue melted. For the most part, for all its problems, it worked pretty well, and if it were MUCH cheaper, it would be good for a young kid's first typewriter. But for the price, it just wasn't up to the standard I expected.

Pros
  • Royal Classic portable manual typewriter including instructions
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Keys too hard to operate normally burned up 174dollars. Typewriter no good.
