Review on πŸ’Ύ Crucial MX300 750GB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD - CT750MX300SSD1 by Kent Kings

Breathed new life into my 2010 Macbook Pro!

I bought one of these to upgrade my mid 2010 MacBook Pro. I have previously replaced the original hard drive with a 750GB hard drive, but the system has slowed down with each successive version of Mac OS. I was concerned when I first received this CD because there were no instructions other than a web link to a utility that runs on Windows. So I clicked the chat button on the Crucial website and was immediately greeted by an agent who gave me a link to Mac instructions. I've already upgraded to El Capitan and the installation instructions didn't require any third party software, just Mac Disk Utility. I used an external enclosure to connect a new hard drive to my Mac (the one I got for my previous hard drive upgrade) and cloned my hard drive to a Crucial SSD. It took about 8 hours due to the size of the drive and the relatively slow USB connection, so I was a bit worried about how the SSD would perform once installed in my MacBook. My fears were unfounded; My system works very well and boots many times faster than before. Almost everything works much faster and the computer feels like new again. The only error I've had so far is my Microsoft Office 11 software thinking it's on a new computer and I had to enter a license number before I could use it. Luckily I kept the original discs and packaging so everything worked fine (and quickly) once I entered the license number. I love this update so much I will be buying another one for my wife's Macbook Pro and my Mac mini.

Pros

Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
