Align the threads when replacing

Few think about replacing the valves under the meter until they leak, but we should do it if the house is more than twenty years old. These valves are better than the valves typically contractor installed because this quarter turn valve does not have a rubber seat that will go bad and leak when you need it most. They are easy to install WHEN THE WATER IS OUT. Caution: When replacing valves, there are many thread sizes and pitches, and you must match the original so that you can use the same fitting ring as the old one, because the compression ring doesn't come out without a struggle. If you use them when installing a new appliance, do so.
