I live in Montana and it's been incredibly smokey the last week due to a lot of big wildfires nearby. Recently, our air quality has ranged from unhealthy for sensitive groups to very unhealthy. Today was the worst day: during work I noticed that my throat was sore and sore, and for several days I have been plagued by periodic headaches. I got home after receiving the GermGuardian AC500E, opened it up, turned it on and within an hour I was feeling noticeably better than I had been all day. Now it's been running at full blast for the last 4 hours (UV off) and I'm feeling amazing! My throat is still a bit bruised, but my headache is gone and my sinuses feel a lot better. My 1,000-square-foot home is very open with no air conditioning, and I noticed that the air was noticeably fresher. around the house. I've kept the windows and doors closed whenever possible, which minimizes the VOCs in the house, but since I live with a dog, I open the backyard door several times a day. I highly recommend this article to anyone hoping to reduce the negative effects of wildfire smoke! We've had even worse air quality this year (air quality was rated 'Hazardous' today) and this fan is making a world of difference. My colleagues have complained of headaches, sinus congestion, and other issues from wildfire smoke, and I'm happy to report that I've had almost none of these symptoms thanks to this ventilator. I also have a GermGuardian AC4100 (smaller model) in my office that works very well. Sometimes I find my throat hurts a bit at work or I get a slight headache when I'm away from my office for a long time, so I'm sure these fans are the reason I'm still feeling good We have bad air quality. I usually leave this fan (AC5000E) in the living room of my house day and night. Last night I accidentally left the window open and woke up to the bedroom smelling like there was a fire inside. I closed the window, put this fan in the bedroom and after an hour the bad smell was significantly reduced. I have told several colleagues about this ventilator and would highly recommend others to consider purchasing a ventilator with a HEPA filter if you live in an area blanketed by wildfire smoke. HEPA filters really make a big difference and I love my GermGuardian fans!
