These magnets are so strong that you won't want to place two of them face to face or you'll have trouble taking them apart. I put some screws in the sides of my cabinets to hold my tools. I attached a few short pieces of wood so I can detach them from whatever I put on (think an arrow). I used them on a table saw like this one as a stop so I could make repetitive cuts with my miter fence. I also use them on the fridge and you can put loads of paper behind them! I don't think I broke any of the 24 I bought, not even chipped or cracked one. For example, if you have a barn door that won't stay closed due to wind or construction, these magnets will definitely keep the door closed. A magnet on one side and a screwed-on washer on the other keep the door closed even in strong winds. The power comes from the front of these magnets, the sides and back are not very magnetized as they are in a metal cup.
