Update: After sitting on my desk without use for a couple of months I tried again and after a few hours my left ear got stuck and my left canal hasn't worked since. The headphones are fine, the headphone jack on the computer is fine. This DAC is broken. Headphones plugged into the headphone jack have a noticeable hiss, presumably from electrical interference, and this is especially noticeable at low volume. I noticed that different headphones have different levels of noise. The overall sound is more interesting than the mediocre audio from my work PC, but the static hissing is annoying, especially since I mostly listen at the lowest volume. There is no noise when connecting headphones directly to the PC.
