So I bought this line of fiber optics to make an old fashioned fiber optic lamp like you saw in the 70's. But as you can see and as I've learned. The fiber optic cable is rolled up as shown in the photos. But what I didn't realize until I unpacked it and started working with it is that it doesn't go out of shape again when it's released. He keeps that memory. So my whole plan to make this cool "typical" fiberglass lamp from the 70's fell through. The reason is that the fibers have to be very straight for the lamp to look right. They keep their curvature and therefore cannot be used for this purpose. But in order not to stop, I spent some time thinking about how I could use this to my advantage. It took me a few days but I finally found a way to make this cool lamp. I personally think it's better than anything I could have done had I stuck to my original idea. I have a multicolor LED lightbulb so I can change colors with a remote too. As for the quality. I had no problems with that. Until you find the right end and realize that the line has been wound on the spool, starting from the inside and ending at the exit to the outside. And you pull the right end and unfold it in the same way, you will have no problem. If you just try to tug on it, it will be a complete mess. Some people have noticed that there is too much light coming out of the fiber. I don't think it's as bad as some of these photos show. To me, fiberglass should look like this. It doesn't show much light in the fibers, but a little. For me it's the perfect balance. I've included a photo I took of a lamp in a dark room to give some context. Please note that some light also comes from the bottom of the lamp. And to be honest, after looking at the photos, I realized that the camera makes the fibers appear a lot brighter than they actually are, so keep that in mind. i work with him So knowing what I know about this fiber and how it reacts. I wouldn't use it again.
