My wife always complained that she couldn't reach the shelf above the washer and dryer to hang her clothes when she took them out of the dryer. Not exactly my problem, but after 45 years of marriage I've found that it's easier to find a solution. The laundry room is small with doors at both ends, so finding something that folds down completely was important. This little device works very well. I installed it on the wall opposite the devices. I've noticed some complaints about it being unstable and difficult to install, but I've had no problems. When using wall anchors, you can tighten the top screw where you need to push the hangar against it, and then install the bottom screw, it will stay tight. My wife is happy and so am I.
