Review on Biker's Choice Secure Helmet Lock - Model 74937S2 by Jacob Fish

Not easy to place

I agree with almost everything that has been said about this product. I think my biggest disappointment was finding a place to mount it on my 1200 Sportster Custom. I wanted that on the handlebars but found I'm limited to a small area on the left side so I'll probably use removable bolts because that's where I'll be mounting the GPS in the near future. It says it can be adjusted to 1-1/4". I wouldn't try that, as another reviewer pointed out. The opening of the device at its widest point is 1-1/4" once you start pinching it will dig into your chrome, and once that seal is broken you'll know what happens next. So I'm stuck in a temporary spot on the left side of the steering wheel until I install a sissy bar and move the lock there. Manipulating the lock can be a nuisance as many have said, luckily I have a modular helmet so it's a bit easier to get two hands in there. For the price, this is a good deterrent, but don't trust it too much. If someone really wants to protect your brain they will just cut the spider web strap and leave, replacing the strap later. Also, I have no idea where they got those sizes they list, but the unit itself measures about 2-1/. 4" H (with clamp all the way down) x 2-1/4" wide x 2-1/4" long. Maybe their sizes are based on how much space you need for installation, lol. Final note: I found it helpful to put some rubbing tape or tape of your choice on the inside of the mount to help it stick a little better wherever you put it and also to avoid damage to the surface you mount it to.
