It heats up very quickly and there is a preheat function for people who don't really need a blanket, just a bed heater. It's a dual control with levels from 1 to 20. I haven't had it above 3 before because it gets so warm. The only thing I don't like is that the controller emits red light. I don't like the light in my room when I'm sleeping so I have to put the controllers under the bed which is inconvenient. I understand it's a security issue, but it's ugly as a sin. The blanket itself is a little stiff, but it's better than the electric blankets I've had before. The heat distribution seems to be more even.
