These pads were purchased for use in the sump of a crowded 125 gallon African cichlid aquarium with cloudy water. Even with frequent water changes and many types of mechanical filtration, I couldn't clean it. MASS MEDIA. I have to say these pads worked great. I put a pad in the drip tray in the evening without expecting much and in the morning the water was crystal clear and stayed clear. They trap dissolved organic matter that clouded the water and seemed to bypass other soft media. These pads are inexpensive and durable. Excellent. Highly recommended.
