This is a GREAT camera for the beginner photographer. This will really help you learn the different camera settings if you're just switching from point and shoot mode. To be honest, you'd have a really hard time jumping into a loaded Primo cam. My husband is an avid photographer and this was his first big step towards cameras. If you have never used a camera with settings, be sure to read the booklet when you receive it. It's a little hard to understand. I'm not a photographer and yet I don't know anything other than to press a button! My husband is now very comfortable with it. He switched to a more advanced Canon camera but said he couldn't really get used to it unless he first used it as a practice camera. Excellent quality photos. You can't tell much of a difference between this and 16 or 18 megapixels. The camcorder is good. One thing we noticed is that when zooming during a video, the lever moves very quickly, so you have to work with it slowly. A major drawback that we noticed when recording videos has to do with the microphone. The microphone is above the camera. So if you don't pay attention to where your hands are, you can cover the microphone and not hear the sound! It's also a bit small, so always carry a wrist strap in case you accidentally drop it! Other than those few things, we love it! This is the camera we take with us when we have fun or go on vacation. You can get a case or phone case and hang it on your belt. It's small enough to fit almost anywhere, which can be a big plus compared to a larger camera. I hope this review helped you!
