would say go up to the next size up for a better fit, i chose the large, i am 5ft 9in and 179lbs and i have always lifting heavy weight for my back and legs. Fireman so my hips are a little big not great I have some hip room so I can step over my bike to get on it I have an Ultra Classic. I might go with the X-Large, they also come in plus sizes which I cut, no problem cutting them.
