I purchased a Midori startup pack last week, at considerable cost and while I do love that product, I discovered that it did not properly fit my field notes and I'm in the middle of using a number of field notes books and wanted an appropriate cover for them.As you can see in my photos, there is a slight, but significant size difference between the September Leather and Midori pocket/passport size, refillable travel journals. The Midori is about .5cm (1/4") less in width and about 1.5cm (5/8") less in height. This is an important difference because the Midori will crush either the top, bottom, or sides of your Field Notes notebook. I know this to be true, because that's exactly what happened to one of my Autumn Trilogy notebooks and well, that pissed me off. As for thickness, there is not any significant difference. There is a difference in quality between the materials used for these two products. Additionally, the edges are not finished on the September Leather travel journal and the leather needs some conditioning. Does the cost savings make up for these things? I think so.I am happy with this alternative given the value for the money and that it properly fits my Field Notes.
