This item is a big disappointment. About a week ago I really liked it and I would repeat all the other positive reviews. I bought in June 2020. I would like to point out that I hired a professional to install it properly. And then one day I came home and my chihuahua was stuck outside. The outer valve broke off and he couldn't get in. I thought wow it hasn't even been a year but things happen and I didn't feel the need to rush out here and leave a negative review. And today the front part broke. Now there's a hole in my wall and I live in Palm Springs, California where the temperature is already rising. Before that I had a white plastic one from petsmart which looks cheap but lasted 4 years. I chose this product because of the good reviews and the stylish design. It cost a lot of money but I felt like I was making a big investment. More money = better product. In this case not so much. I have contacted customer service to see if there is anything that can be done. Usually when something doesn't work with Amazon I just accept it and move on. Although it was a lot of money. His. It's hard to let go If the situation improves I will update the review. Note: I have a medium sized dog and a small dog. You don't always have access to it. I live out of the desert and we have a problem with coyotes. Not that it matters. It should work no matter how many times a day it's used, but I wanted to mention it. It's more of a convenience during the day when I'm at their house. Otherwise it is closed and they are locked in the house.
