Review on 🚚 Enhanced Truck Tailgate Assist by DEE ZEE (Model DZ43301) by Raymond Vogel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great fit. Easy installation. - UPDATED

12/19 update - bought another truck and repurchased this one. They updated this kit. It seems stronger, not that it's necessary, but it's bulkier. I like the old style better. Nevertheless 4 star rating. In my opinion, the old style was simply the best product. Fits great and works great. Installation took about 5 minutes. A torx wrench is included, which comes in handy if you don't have a set. The instructions state that the protector must be attached in two places. Check where cords and cords are snagged before installation to ensure your vehicle is protected. The biggest plus is that the shock stays loaded no matter where the tailgate is in the open position, so it doesn't open when you close the tailgate and release 1/4 of the way up like some do factory simple openers is the case. The main downside is that it's noisy. Let's hope this is a design flaw and not a sign of quick failure. I would recommend this product and buy it again. Money well spent, especially since factory options are easy to open these days. Revain gets one star for over-the-top packaging and carton size. Seriously, Revane, what are you doing? Where do my increased costs go? Update 3/11/19 I was driving on a bumpy road a few weeks ago. When I get to the gas station, I see that my hinged trunk lid has shifted, so I open the tailgate to adjust it and *BAM* pops open. I jammed the strut, thinking it was defective, and the metal spring clip came loose on its own as the strut came loose from the tailgate. Luckily it was still attached to the luggage rack so I put it back in and attached it to the tailgate. It didn't happen again but it made me lose confidence in the product. If it happens again I'll take it down to 3 stars.
