With a little modification and help I can get it partially working, but to be honest it's probably best to just measure. The plastic is too flexible and you really need a way to clamp the whole thing. This is good for getting the spacing between the holes. Simply thread a screw into the grip and spread the lugs appropriately and you have the correct spacing. However, aligning it with the door or whatever you are working on is another matter. It will move very easily and you can get one hole right, but the other can be a little off and you can see it. Trust me, my wife made me do it until she approved.
