Review on Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 12.1MP Digital Camera - 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, 3-Inch LCD (Black) by Paul Freeman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best compact camera money can buy.

This is my second Canon ELPH camera, it replaces the ELPH 100. The pixel count is the same but I would like an extra zoom and Wi-Fi. The batteries last a long time. Over 300 shots and 12 short 1080p videos recorded in 3 days, charged every night, but the battery indicator showed almost full charge all the time. So I'm guessing 100+ photos a day with no noticeable battery drain. Extra batteries (for those who shoot a lot) can be found here for less than cheap. $15 for 2 AND an additional charger. UTF8&psc=1 image stabilization works well, recycling time is minimal. I've taken some pretty cool 1080p photos and videos with my two ELPHs. Is it as good as a top-of-the-line DSLR? Probably no. But it's one of the best compact cameras you'll ever find. Before settling on this model, I bought similar Samsung, Nikon and Fugi cameras (sold later in this auction). a compact pouch for it that attaches to a belt loop and stays where it is when you're out of town (the pouch is only 3"x4"). So small you won't notice, but BIG shots. My phone has more pixels and takes REALLY good pictures. But it's nowhere near as good as this camera, and the 10x zoom can't compete with the compact. Where this camera REALLY shines is in 1080p video. Nice crystal clear video with pretty decent sound. This thing shoots better video than most "standalone" camcorders on the market today. There were a few menu changes between the 100 and 330 series, but you get used to them quickly. I'm not a professional photographer and I've never used half the functionality on the cameras I've bought. But I REALLY know a good picture when I see it, and I like the small size, ease of use and excellent performance of this camera. My main test is how good photos/videos look on my 60 inch TV. And I can only say: WOW! the size deceives you.
