the post office. The first key was slightly off center and while trying to get everything on the water, the next day I tried pushing it in and turning the trimmer with the two pins. It didn't work and I rounded one of the pin holes a bit (all three pins need to be on the ground). Given the cost of this one-off tool, I was frustrated that it wasn't working for me and called customer service. Thought I would end up returning it as I had to leave a voice message on the customer service line during office hours but received a call back a minute later. The person on the other end took my story and couldn't confirm it was a known issue but to my delight he said he would send me a new one immediately (arrived 2-3 days later). Once I got the new pin key, I removed the caps in 15 minutes (one pin was broken but three spare pins were included). The job took about 2-2.5 hours but if you are good at mechanics and your stems don't need cleaning (I had everything clogged under the dust skirt and in the seat of the stem primary seal) this can be done. much faster. It's something I would normally pay someone else for, but I can't wait 6 weeks in the store in the middle of summer. in port shipments), broken pins are easy to pull out with a magnet, you can save a few bucks and only replace the outermost seals/rubber (if I could do it again I would only replace the outer main seal and dust skirt), make sure Your manual dump valve didn't stick (I had to custom make a flat head with a bench grinder as the tabs on mine are curved), and the Marine Tech Tools YouTube video was helpful in conjunction with my Yamaha manual. Too bad the same wrench doesn't have pin holes for removing the tilt cap. I would have to spend another $70 for this tool but the seal doesn't seem to be leaking so far so good. The starboard trim cap/dust skirt no longer leaks so if my issue is resolved. I would give this tool 4.5 stars if given the opportunity. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is wasted time and frustration when the first tool is drilled off center. I'm not sure if an allen wrench would work (I looked at one over the counter) but the purchase of this particular tool is warranted as I've never used a wrench in the past and probably won't anytime soon.
