Review on Borla XR-1 40944 Sportsman Racing Oval Muffler, 3-inch, Stainless Steel by Djuan Thompson

PERFECT! This muffler was the miracle I needed to quiet my exhaust. Don't get me wrong though as I came from the opposite end of the spectrum (the exhaust is way too LOUD. Not like most who would tune this for a deeper/throat sound). Installed on a 1998 A4 1.8T with a Big Turbo setup. Before installing this I started my build by making the exhaust as simple as possible (straight pipe) and from there adding mufflers/resonators to quiet it down to the right level. mandrel bends) silencer at the end. Way too loud. The second installation added a Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator next to the rear axle. Removing part of the drone. Tuning obviously required more than just a small resonator. The 3rd setting added a high flux coil to the mix. Very loud. I don't think it really changed anything. decided to fix it once and for all. I bought two 3" silicone couplers, cut off my normal rear muffler and planned to neatly connect the 4 different mufflers I ordered to the exhaust to see which one makes the biggest difference. .then I welded on the final mortar.I started assembling the Bright Silencer 1149 Streetpower. It made a fairly noticeable difference that the idle tone was a bit lower and the in-cabin reverberation was improved by about 30% when revving up to 3000 rpm. I then added a Borla 40944 XR-1 and now directly attached a Vibrant 1149 Streetpower silencer. I lit it up and was amazed at the difference the Borla muffler made. Mind you, the layout wasn't how you would normally attach them, as they were more direct and fluid with no piping in between. But I was so impressed with the two pieces that I removed my Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator and High Flow Cat and welded in a Borla XR-1 and Vibrant Streetpower muffler. I didn't even try the other 3 mufflers I ordered because the Borla XR-1 muffled the exhaust so well I knew it couldn't get any better. And it's a see-through design! End result: 3 inches. Turbo back to Borla 40944 XR-1 to Vibrating Streetpower Muffler Sound: I feel like the Borla XR-1 basically has to thank you for fixing my horribly squeaky and generally LOUD exhaust. My car now has a smooth, deep idle tone, the groan has been reduced by about 80-90% from the original setup, and the sound at full load is amazing!
