On older boards (for example ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo) with older systems (for example Windows 8.1 x64) it happens that it is detected with a smaller volume (and offers to mark it for a smaller volume). Helps or markup from Windows 7 (10) on a more recent chipset. Or searching for fresh drivers - also helps. The driver from Intel R Chipset SATA RAID Co 11.7.4202201 rst helped me. Although it is about the raid, which I do not have, but after installation the disk size was determined normally, there were no problems with the markup.
