Review on MFC-J470DW Wireless Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Auto Document Feeder by Bill Lyons

I bought this printer about a year and a half ago and have printed very little since then. It came with packs of test inks, not full-size packs as usual. I recently tried to print a document for my mother and noticed poor print quality, so I assumed more ink was needed. I need to finish a job so I recently bought Revain black and color prep inks (Brother products as recommended) and tried to print. To my surprise, all pages were blank. I double checked the position of my ink cartridges and tried to print a test page. Another blank page. I checked the device several times and kept getting blank pages. I was getting more and more frustrated so I turned to the internet and found out that this is a common problem with this printer. One recommendation was to run the printer cleaning process multiple times, but BEWARE it uses up your ink each time! If that doesn't work, see instructions on how to clean the printhead manually. I've tried this a few times and the only colors visible are mottled blue and black. I cannot express how disappointed I am with the performance of this printer. I wasted so much precious time trying to figure out what's going on and couldn't get any of the work I needed to do! I'm also disappointed that I paid for black and color ink that is wasted for no apparent purpose. It has been suggested that you should consider purchasing MORE ink if these attempts to correct the problem have not been successful. Correctly! My ink supply has decreased significantly and I have not printed a single document. Another ridiculous problem with this printer is that if ANY of your color ink runs out, you CANNOT print. Even if you want to print a black and white document, you can't print until you get yellow ink! Brother needs to put everything together and work on the shortcomings present in this printer. I had to save the money I had spent buying ink and spend it on a new printer. Do yourself a favor and pass it on. I would like to have.
