Review on 🔍 Optimized Search: Fairview Small Storage Cabinet with Doors in Antique White and Tea Maple by Bush Furniture by Seth Heck

I bought an "antique white" small storage cabinet with doors. Fortunately, although the crate had some minor damage in transit, the hull parts inside were fairly well protected with styrofoam and surprisingly nothing was damaged. All the parts were there, but no replacement parts. This cabinet looks like cheap chipboard, but overall it looks a little better than usual, better than I feared. Very heavy although I bought this one because it was listed as lighter than most similar products. MOST of the time it wasn't too difficult to assemble (it took about an hour, and I'm an engineer who's assembled similar "furniture" many times), but there were several major flaws. There are no instructions - some bad drawings and no words at all. A hinge screw broke - the head of the screw just came loose as I screwed it in about 3/4 in (with a manual screwdriver, not a power tool!), and there were no extra parts at all (I could have drilled out the broken screw if I could would have a spare), so one loop is out of order. Some of the numerous holes were not drilled quite correctly, but were generally close enough. Some things didn't quite fit together and that's why the doors are difficult to close - I have to close them at the same time because they often bump into each other. And the doors are very heavy compared to the rest/back of the closet - if you open the doors and the closet is not loaded with stuff it starts tipping over. The back is a very thin sheet of painted cardboard. The top is also very heavy. Especially in the absence of instructions, the hinges were the most difficult part to install (joining half a hinge bolted to the door to a half hinge bolted to the cabinet) and there are 3 hinges per door that need to be aligned even if the screw is not broken! And there are 4 plastic "screw hole plugs" - those little colored plastic pieces that you sometimes get on this type of chipboard to cover the screw holes (and they always fall out anyway) - that don't seem to have any targets. In view of the price, I had hoped for better optics and better workmanship. If it was $70 instead of $159 it would seem like a reasonable product and I would be happy with it. It's definitely way overpriced for what it is. The biggest problem now that it's built and in use is that the doors don't align properly so opening/closing is a hassle.
