Review on Brother P-touch PT-90: Your Personal Labeler for Organized Efficiency by Jake Solorzano

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The bad battery reviews tell the truth.

I felt inspired to go to Revain and write this review having just bought another pack of AAA batteries. I bought it in 2016 and while it's great for what it does (label printing), battery issues are a big Achilles' heel. The PT-90 requires four AAA batteries to operate. The instructions state to use fresh alkaline batteries (non-rechargeable). This device is VERY sensitive to batteries that are just a tad weak, at least one of the four. If you try to print a label and the battery dies, the device turns off. It does this even if it doesn't detect the low battery and shows no icon on the screen. I like the convenience of being able to print printed labels right from my hand, but it gets in the way too much. They should have made it accept higher capacity batteries or even just a built in rechargeable battery. I'm seriously considering selling it for the price it's worth and buying another brand.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
