Review on πŸ”§ Dorman ABS Sensor 970024 by Tyler Gannamani

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This fixed a transmission issue on my mom's 2000 Durango.

I felt that my mother's transmission problems were not related to the transmission. Oddly, an independent ABS light came on (the problem was with the front tires, not the rear tires, but I went ahead and replaced all the relevant sensors, including this one, for the rear). Once I installed this sensor, their uncomfortable switching was gone. He also had a problem with the last freeway gear, but the failure was not related to a gearbox problem. The diagnostics showed an issue with the solenoid that would have been easy to fix, but after I replaced both front sensors something told me to replace the rear one before drilling into the transmission. The problem is solved. Pulling out the old one is, as everyone says, the hardest part. just be patient Twist slightly, pull straight up, take a screwdriver or prying tool and gently pry on each side. I'm surprised I didn't break the old one like a lot of people do, but it came out. I installed it again. I smeared him with some lube and he got up immediately. I didn't need the small extension cord that came with the kit, but I used it anyway and secured it with zip ties. It was the perfect fit. As others have suggested, this was easily accomplished by simply removing the spare tire. Didn't have to jack it up or anything, just lock one of the wheels, put parking brake on, straight in and replace.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are shortcomings
