Review on Trailer Valet Tongue Dolly Silver by Dave Sapp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worked very well, 2500lb drawer and sloping road. with updates

Update 1 year Since Amazon reviews are dodgy these days, I felt the need to update this review 1 year later. Overall, after about a dozen uses, it still works very well. I don't store it outside and attach it to the popup so it never sees rain. It also deflates fairly quickly and will not function unless fully inflated. So remember to check the air regularly. Overall, I couldn't have left my pop-up in the garage without this device. It saves lives. Original Review: To be honest I'm not sure what happened to all the negative reviews. I read everything and was hesitant to buy it considering how expensive it is, but so far it's worked fine for me. Background: Required to move a 2,500lb extendable trailer with less than 300 tongs. My driveway is narrow in the front and wide in the back and is on a slope that rises about 6 feet above the 30 foot driveway. It's steep enough that I can't push the trailer up the hill myself, and I'm not good enough at backing the trailer well. My driveway is concrete. Installation: I was able to install Trailer Valet in 30 minutes and it was easy for me to figure out how to use it. Usage: He was able to push my trailer down the driveway with ease. I was also able to maneuver the trailer sideways from the center of the driveway. I only moved it 5 feet but it did the job just fine. Other comments: I could only use the slow torque crank, the road was too steep for a fast rider. Trailer alone up my driveway - In the brake position, trailer valet stopped my popup from rolling down my driveway - Tires were delivered properly inflated. and lower my trailer. - Attaching and removing the valet was easy. Cons - The lower high-speed grip is too low to be of practical use - It takes some getting used to. You may want a second person to hold the trailer when you release the brakes for the first time. The bolted fittings are not zinc plated which would be preferable for outdoor applications. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and had no trouble fitting it to my pop-up, although my key is fairly complete with a wireless brake control and non-slip towbar. The valet doesn't fit folded on my trailer, but I wasn't planning on leaving it attached when not in use. I wouldn't want to lug all that extra weight on my tongs.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Good for the most part, but...
