I knew I wouldn't need an MP3 player that often but thought it would be nice to have one for when I go to the beach and chill and Don't want to listen to music being played by others through their wireless speakers. I didn't want to pay $160 for an iPod and wear out my iPhone's battery. I just need a device that will store the music and allow me to listen to it through my headphones on the beach. Here's the risk. Pros: I like that it's small. It comes with a case, and the headphone box fits in a swimsuit bag. I also like the headphones that come with it. I have several iphone headphones and I don't know why the person she designed had alien ears like that, but they don't fit me. They don't fit, they fall out, and the sound inside them isn't clear. THESE fit perfectly and the sound is crystal clear. Putting music on this device was a breeze. It charges using a mini-USB cable, and when connected to a computer using the same cable, it appears as an external drive. You can just drag and drop music folders onto the player and they will be kept in alpha order. The transmission speed is not outstanding, but ok. If you have music like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles I would suggest removing "the" from the folder name so they show up under B or R instead of T. So for a simple cheap player, store and play music, it works great. Haven't used it in a car yet so can't confirm how it will sound over Bluetooth through the car's sound system. But mostly I use discs in a car and in a new car without CD player I have music stored on flash drives. So I don't need it for this purpose. Cons: The biggest downside for me is the display. It's not that bright outside and as I bought them for use in our pool or at the beach it's a pain. Yesterday I played music, it was new stuff I hadn't heard and I couldn't see what kind of band it was. BUT, it was music that I owned, so I figured I probably liked it, so I just let it play. But I do not know, who it was The second downside is the technology. Now at first I was upset because it's not a touchscreen. I wanted a touch screen. BUT considering how bad the display is, I'm glad it's not a touchscreen. But it's still old technology. You have arrow keys to switch from one album to another and then an OK button to play the song. Back button to go to the previous screen. It's like I've been transported back in time. It's all very high tech for 1999, so is it worth buying? If money is no object and you plan on using it a lot, I would buy an iPod. If you don't care about your phone's battery life, you can easily download music to iPhone and save money. But if you're like me and it's not that big of a deal and you just want to hear some tunes while you read by the pool, on the beach, on your porch or whatever, give it a try.
