I really like the industrial style of this lamp. The bulbs it came with gave off a soft amber glow, not one of those ugly bright white or fluorescent white bulbs. Keep one of the bulb boxes so you know which ones to reorder when the bulbs run out. 1 bulb is more than enough to fully illuminate my bedroom and not be so dim as to cause eyestrain, although I would run 2 or 3 if I needed to read a book at night. I would like the base to be heavier because it seems to me that if one of my cats lays on the base it could tip over or fall off. So I put it in the corner of my room and put things on the base so my cats don't sit/lie/are around. Also, if someone accidentally hit the lamp, I could see it fall slightly. Weighing in at 20 pounds, the entire setup, including the base, is much lighter.
