Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced Lighting Solution: Fluker's Repta-Clamp Lamp 8.5-Inch Ceramic with Dimmable Switch by Vincent Burton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I have 20 - maybe 30? Something like that.

Almost every tank I have has one. I breed geckos so we can easily say +/- 20 tanks. I've never had a problem and will continue to buy them as long as I have tanks that need them. The dimmer is amazing and you can turn off the lamp on the dimmer. I can dim the lamp in summer when it's hot and turn it on brighter in winter when it's cold. The dimmer will not work with an MVB lamp as the mercury lamp is not dimmable. I don't know if the MVB works when the dimmer is set to "full on" and not "dimmed off" as I've never tried it and the bulbs are too expensive and fragile to test this. It also pops a bit with the new LEDs not giving off heat. (if you just need light) Even with the dimmer set to maximum so it doesn't "dim", LED bulbs tend to flicker. with a ceramic socket from the hardware store. They're white on the inside, which doesn't reflect as well as silver when you're trying to get as much heat as possible with something like a 275-watt bulb. (my tegu is a good example). Even if you're trying to get all the watts out of a lamp, you still don't need a dimmer. excellent odds considering the amount i bought. The inside of the socket came out when I tried to unscrew the bulb. I have used the lamp with household incandescent bulbs, a ceramic radiant warmer, warming bulbs and the LED bulb mentioned above. It seems silly to me to talk about how wonderful a regular dimmer lamp is, but it is very useful and I recommend it to anyone who has a reptile that needs light, or even people who just need a dimmer clamp lamp. I never use a clamp so I can't give feedback on this. It messes with my settings so I always throw it away. For the few aquariums that require a hanging light, I use a light stand (probably from Zoo Med) that hangs the light evenly, is adjustable, and the arm swings out of the way if I need to reach for something. I recommend this if you can't get the clamp to work properly or you don't have anything to clamp with.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
