Full Disclosure: I haven't put a skein of unwound yarn on it yet, I just got it today and figured out how to use it (if I have an unwound skein to wind up. which I have , but since I don't plan on using this particular yarn in my next project, I'd rather leave it as is). In any case, it's not hard to figure out how to use this swift - the criss-cross slider outwards to accommodate any width needed to accommodate the strand, and there's a stopper that screws into the bottom slider which then holds it in place. on the spot and causes that the crosses remain in this extended position. But the table clamp below? Pooh. It also has a screw - it's tightened to the edge of the table - but that screw is so incredibly tight and tight that it takes a lot of hand strength to turn it. Since this is unfinished raw wood (not painted or coated in any way), sawdust builds up all over the place, and while the panels appear to move freely/smoothly, this table clamp screw does NOT - instead it seems to want to relate. I think a metal or plastic screw would be better. The clip itself is also fairly flat. So if your table edge is not completely flush/square/flat you may have trouble fixing it adequately. I bought a wooden Swift because all the plastic ones were ugly.
