Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Your Ride: KILMAT 80 mil 18 sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat - Optimal Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener for Audio Noise Insulation and Dampening by Bob Trapp

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Enjoy driving on the road, not noise from the street in your car

I am in the process of updating the audio system in my (new to me) 2009 Acura RDX. Six out of ten factory-installed speakers have seen better days. Some of them had their voice coils removed and found in driver and passenger, front and rear doors. You Tube videos provide a lot of useful information about what steps you need to take to improve the sound quality of your car stereo. Of course, replacing the speakers with some quality aftermarket models is the obvious first choice. I found that another item to look out for is the Kilmat car muffler mat, which comes in 80 and 50 mil thicknesses. The thicker the better, if possible. Cut out paper templates of different shapes and sizes for a good fit. Disposable trauma scissors do a good job of trimming the mat. Don't forget to also buy a set of 3 mounting rollers. It is important to roll the mat with rollers to ensure the soundproof panels are properly adhered to the metal door panels. The Kilmat Sheep Waffle Aluminum Top easily shows where the mats have been rolled up. Installed mats increase the weight of the car. However, the significant drop in common sense is a welcome compromise. Even putting a mat on 25% of the door panel will result in significant sound absorption.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Vulgarity
