I have waited for people many times. My old Dell laptop battery life is less than 45 minutes. In the past I had to look for a way to continue working after the end. Now I just connect to my machine and continue. That's great. As others have said, fan noise is present when using AC, but this is a minor downside (for me). The device doesn't quite fit in my Honda Civic's drinking bowl, but some packaging materials will do as long as I don't block the vents. Best buy I could make for $28. Note *** After Hurricane Sandy hit and before I got my generator, I used this device with a battery on the floor in my dining room to light some CFL lights around the house. It worked. Not ideal due to the many extension cords, but I had lighting until my car battery (I have a spare battery in the garage) died. August 20, 2013 About 6 or 8 months ago the fan started making whistling noises. It seemed to happen by itself. The device also performs excellently during the loud phase. The fan is only needed when the AC inverter is used, so it is not used very often. November 7, 2014 Still using this block. The fan whines at first, but spins freely after about a minute and cools the internal electronics sufficiently. July 28, 2015 Unfortunately, the thing has more or less given up. I have to fiddle with the power button and press it a few times before the red or green LED lights up. Despite this, the rectifier circuit is triggered about a third of the time. It's time to send it to the landfill in heaven. The USB port still works fine so I haven't dropped it yet. It's been a staple in my Honda all along, always plugged in so can't really complain as the car is used almost every day.
