I came from a Duracell inverter that had a long cord and looked like a stack of credit cards. I thought it was portable and easy to use. Before that I used a much larger inverter that stayed on the floor and looked like a little textbook. Much easier to have a drink holder. This thing fit in a 2012 cup holder without tipping over. I've had it for 6 months now and it's fine. It works to power a laptop or charge camera batteries, but it doesn't do much more than that. The design is too heavy and if your cup holder doesn't fit perfectly, the inverter can tip over. Small plastic plugs are very cheap, have sharp edges, and don't fit well. I debated for a long time whether I should buy this converter or a simpler one that is $10 cheaper. I ended up choosing this one and I'm very glad I did! The converter has a fan that's audible when the power plugs are in use (with the power button on), but to be honest, unless you drive a super-quiet BMW, Mercedes or Cadillac, you probably won't notice that fan not. I have waited for people many times. My old Dell laptop battery life is less than 45 minutes. In the past I had to look for a way to continue working after the end.
