Very good anchor for the price. Better value than Yak Gear. The anchor is made of galvanized steel and painted red to make it easier to find if you lose it. The handles can be locked in the open or closed position. The supplied bag is made of durable nylon and is also softly lined. The only thing I would recommend is to include at least 50 feet of cord as 25 feet isn't enough. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. The line provided (though too short) is quite solid and the marker buoy and steel retaining ring are a nice addition. I use her cord as a tow rope for other crafts. I would recommend this Yak Gear product for use with an anchor: YakAttack SideWinder, a spool of anchor line, includes rail gear and 75 feet of Paracord 550. Don't waste time with a 1.5 pound anchor. 1.5 pounds is good for 9 and 10 foot kayaks. Anything more and I would go for £3 or £3.5. My single pontoon boat with a full battery trolling motor and gearbox was too heavy for a 1.5 pound boat to carry. The 3.5 pound anchor works great. They show the anchor tied at the top end, but a "stone-rigged" anchor (tied at the claw end) is much better. If you tie it at the end of the claw and tie the sling at the top, you'll pull the line tight and break the tie, allowing you to pull the anchor back if you get stuck. There are videos on YouTube that make mounting stones easier. Search... "YakGear - How to "swing" the anchor and set "add rope" Enjoy!
