Review on 🌱 Organic 10lb Bag of Soy 464 Wax by David Alvarez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very nice soft and smooth

A beginner won't explain my skills but this wax didn't require much maintenance to pour a very nice smooth candle. It's soft, so I doubt it would make good pillar candles, but for the standard-style 16-ounce stein glass containers I used, it was perfect. I noticed that the lighter colors I made burned better than the darker ones, although they absorbed all color very well. Soy is quite different in that it is soft to the touch and remains more opaque, not translucent at all making the colors look pastel. Very nice in soft colors. The wicks recommended for the crucible hole size were too small and the candles quickly burned to the bottom. Once they were about an inch from the bottom, they burned for hours. So those who reviewed before me were right, this wax requires a fairly large wick to burn evenly. Also, I "fixed" a lot of wax and replaced the wicks by twisting 2 together and that was a big improvement but still not the same. I'll try the "big" wicks on my next try. In terms of scent retention, we used melting cubes and found that a full cube in 2 cups of wax is more than enough. We also added dried flower petals and they helped the wax burn more evenly ;). Am I correct in assuming that this wax is best for wide neck jars with thick wicks?

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • A few small things
