Review on Biological Microscope Achromatic Metallurgical Instruments by Paul Tilden

To experiment with super macro photography cheaply, I bought a cheap RMS to M42 adapter and a cheap M42 to Nikon adapter for my old Nikon D42. And then I got this cheap 4x lens. This 4x seems to give roughly 1:1 macro photography, which is pretty good. Images have obvious vignetting, but we like the look. We don't even get particularly sharp focus at the focal plane, and all the more so because of the very shallow depth of field. But it's still a lot of fun and we're glad we got this item. For that purpose, I recommend this inexpensive lens. I have not tried this lens on a real microscope, so I will not comment on its purpose. Next we will try increasing the magnification.
